Budget Beauty for College/High School Students

Hello Dearies,

I wanted to do a post for those who have a tight budget like College students/high school students who have limited pocket money and do not want to spend thousands upon cosmetics and beauty items.

So here I want to list some pretty cheap and useful items for those who want to stack up cosmetics but within their budget.

But before I start I want to tell you all that You must first determine what type of skin you have . .Normal, oily or Dry as products would be useful only if they are bought according to your skin type .

I will say that a proper cleansing toning scrubbing moisturizing should be followed intensively to make your skin glowing . .So that you look good from within.Drink at least eight glasses of water and keep away from oily foods as much as possible.

Another thing I must stress upon is always try to use a reputed brand .As cheap brands use harmful chemicals and this could cause damage to skin, eyes and lips

Face Products:
For young girls I think a tinted moisturizer or a medium coverage foundation is more than enough . You do not need to be caked up for college. You need to look natural and healthy. So ALWAYS choose the shade matching your skin. Choosing a shade lighter than you may make you look ghastly.

Products I want to Recommend:

  • Lakme Foundations : They have a lot of variety . .Ranging from Rs 100 to Rs 300 and more . .All of these are medium coverage and are pocket friendly . . And as Lakme has shades matching Indian skin tones you will get a tone matching your skin easily.
  • Lacto Calamine Lotion: If you want a tinted lotion I prefer you try Lacto Calamine. . It is really effective and comes in two types -One for normal to oily skin and another for dry skin. These are very cheap . .You get 120ml lotion for 105 Rs . .

  • Coloressence Foundations :These are also value for money and give decent quantity. Yu can get these at Snapdeal and other Online shopping sites .Price: 100 Rs

Powders:Another Face product you need will be a Powder to set your foundation /tinted lotion. A good compact or loose powder will help keep the foundation in place and prevent oiliness.

Products I want to recommend:

  • Lakme Compacts: Ranges from 100Rs to 300Rs and they have large skin tones matching Indian skin tones and does decent job.

  • Maybelline Compact :Also a good choice. These are also priced decently at 150/175 Rs
  • Lakme Loose Powder :This product is basically a loose powder in a jar. It is best economical for the quantity it provides. It gives 40gm product for only 100Rs

Blushes
Lastly a blush for those days you want to look special . . If you love adding color to your face then use a blush. But again use a shade which is nearly identical to your cheeks when they blush :P

Products I want to recommend:
  • Jordana Blush Powder: These are cheap and come in large varieties. Available online for 210Rs
  • Gala Of London blusher : These are also value for money and do decent job. Priced at 200Rs
  • Incolor Glimmer Blusher : These come in many shades to choose from and are quite pigmented. Available at flipkart, snapdeal and other online stores. Priced at 200Rs
  • Avon Blusher : These are origina;;y priced at 249Rs . But some month they are on offer for as low as 169Rs

So that Ends the Face Products

Now For the Eyes
A well defined eye can make or break a look and so a well defined eye is what we should strive to achieve . .But to get this you do not need a host of products. I feel a liquid eyeliner along with a kajal and a  mascara does most of the job. So Now we move on to the Eye liner

An eyeliner may be of any type, a pencil liner, a liquid liner, a felt tip liner or a gel liner . .Decide which one suits your requirements  . I prefer Liquid liners and gel liners best as liquid ones are super cheap and the gel ones stay long on my eyes. .

For liquid liners I suggest :
  • Avon Simply Pretty Liner: The original price is 115 but available on special prices for as low as 80Rs. Available through Avon Representatives only.
  • Lakme Insta Liner :Priced at 85Rs/90Rs these are one of the most budget friendly.
  • Lakme Black Impact Liner :Priced at 190Rs these are also a great option for an eyeliner.
  • Colorbar Waterproof Liquid Liner : With a felt tip and priced at 250Rs these are great for those looking for a waterproof one.
  • Lotus Opulence Liner :These are also pocket friendly and have felt tip so these are easy to apply and priced at 190Rs

For Kajal I prefer:
  • Avon kajal with smudger: Original price is 259 but on offer within 200Rs these are easy to use for the attached smudger to create that smokey eye or smudged kohl look easily. Available through Avon Representatives only.
  • Maybelline Colossal Kajal: The most anticipated and endorsed kajal with very black pigments and long staying power. These come at 150Rs
  • Elle18 Kajal: These are very economical and do decent job. Priced at 70Rs
  • Himalaya Kajal :These are easy to use and pocket friendly too. Also these are herbal so those with sensitive eyes these are a good buy at 100Rs
Mascara:
Defined and curled lashes make you look awake and attentive and also help make your eyes look beautiful so invest in a good curling mascara.
  • Maybelline Hyper Curl Mascara :Super affordable and priced at 180Rs these are very effective and come in Waterproof and Washable versions.
  • Maybelline Colossal Mascara: These are a very good mascara and they curle very well so if you are looking for a curling one then try these. Available both washable and waterproof at 275Rs
  • Lakme Eye-conic Mascara : The blogging world has been buzzing with the news of these new releases from Lakme. This maascas is also a curling mascara priced decently at 250Rs
Lip Products
And Lastly we move on to lip products. I feel at college or school you do not necessarily need lipsticks but if you want to try out I have given suggestions down here  . .For me a tinted lip balm or a lip gloss is enough to look naturally pretty. Choose Pinks, Corals and light shades . .Browns are a big NO-NO as brown makes people look matured than their age. I simply prefer Avon's Strawberry Lip Balm and Avon Sweet Twist Lip Gloss in Strawberry as I just love strawberry smelling products.

For Lipsticks :
  • Elle18 Lip bombs : These come in large shade selections and easily availble both online and at stores. But do check shades beforehand before placing online order as shades in catalogues may be slightly different from that of the Lipstick. These are available at Rs 90-100
  • Avon Simply Pretty Lip sticks: These are also a good option and I feel they are better than Elle18 ones as they have more staying power and the formula is better. These are Usually at sale with offer of Rs198 for two.Available Through Avon Representatives only.
  • Oriflame Pure Colors Lipsticks: My new found love. These are very pocket friendly. At 99Rs you get 2.5gm of product and in many shades which are great for traveling and daily use. Available Through Oriflame Representatives Only
  • Faces Go Chic Lipsticks: A very economical choice from Faces Canada. They have very good colors and they come at price tag of 200Rs
  • Coloressence Lipsticks : Also a good budget buy. Available online and offline at RS 125

For Lip Glosses:
  • Maybelline Fruity Jelly Lip Gloss: These are sheer lip glosses and are priced at 150/200Rs
  • Maybelline Water shine Lip Gloss:These are lip gloss with fine shimmers and priced at 180Rs
  • Avon Lip gloss: These are also a great buy priced at 169Rs. Available through Avon Representatives only.
  • Elle 18 Lip Gloss: These are also great and are priced at 85Rs. These come in shimmery and also non shimmery colors. Available both online and at nearby beauty stores.

Lip Balms:
  • Avon Lip Balms: These are on offer every two or three month at2 for 120Rs. Available through Avon Representatives.
  • VLCC lip balm: These are Priced at 80Rs and come in two variants. They are pocket friendly and work decently.
  • Lotus Lip Balms : Priced at 100Rs these come in stick and tub formats. With many variants to choose from pick your favorite flavor.
So that really sums up the basic Makeup Items For a College/ High School Student . .

I have included easily available items in the list and so If you want to suggest any other products then please leave the names in the comment section.

Hope you like this post and do comment and Follow . .

With Love
Shabby

  4. Thats a very useful post. Students really need such advice to plan their budget. Now I'm using a Blue heavens powder foundation (both in one product), mascara (for the first time) and a lipbalm (maybelline lipcolor which gives slight color to lips).

    1. Thanks for the comment dear . .I know how difficult it is to cope with the tight budget. Everyone wants to look beautiful bud it's true you will build up your makeup collection slowly . I think Blue Heavens has some good quality products. I use their Concealer stick occasionally and it works decently. But dear I can suggest you will get lipcolors at the price of Maybelline lipbalm . .And lastly I suggest always use a reputed brand and if you are not sure whether it will sit you check online to find what people feel about it. That way you will not waste money and will get a product that is effective for you.
