Gearing up for Puja- Taking Care of Hands and Feet

Hello Ladies,

Well Durga Puja is coming near . .It's less than 45 days remaining and I'm buying like crazy . . I've ordered more than 4/5 orders and am expecting all to come in the next week . .These awesome sites . .They just attract you. .Even when I did not have the slightest planning to buy, I've ordered like 4 lipsticks . .Dresses . .Jewelry etc etc . .So you can say my Puja Shopping has started . . :)

Now coming to my post . .During Puja we want to look our best . .Same goes for the feet and hands . We want them to look superb for the Puja days . .But only a pedicure and Manicure before the puja will not do the job . . The Tanning, dryness etc have formed with time and so we need to take care of them from now on . .

So lets Start Our Gearing Up For Puja series with A hand and Feet special Post

I want to say a few things at first . .If you have time in your hand/ have someone in the family (Mom, Grand mom) who could prepare homemade packs so you can use them when you have time You Are Lucky . .

For those who are do not have time/no one to prepare the homemade packs . .Buy a Pedicure kit.  .There are many . .Like Vlcc ones or Vaadi ones etc . .

Examine your Feet:
  • Do you have cracked heels? Or dead skin?
  • Have your feet or hands tanned?
  • Is there any dryness?
  • Any nail diseases or anything which need to be taken care of?

When you have got your answers work as per your requirements . .

If you have a nail disease contact a doctor and take necessary actions . .

If you have Cracked heels . .Dip your feet in a pot of warm water  . .Soak for 10 mints then Scrub the heels with a foot scrub using a pumice stone or a foot scrubber  . .Now wash the scrub and dry feet . .Apply a foot cream and wear socks overnight. Do this daily or every alternative day . .So that your heels become softer and the cracks heal . .

Make a foot scrub . .With the following steps . . You can see a detailed step by step post on doing a Pedicure Here.
    •  Mix 2 tablespoon sugar granules to half-cup olive oil/castor oil/ coconut oil . . This is the foot scrub
Now if you have Dry feet or Hands . .After each bath and before going to bed apply a good foot cream or Hand cream . .If you have severe dryness then wear a sock/ gloves overnight to help moisturise your hands better . .

    Tanning:
Now here is the main problem . .Tanning is result of prolonged exposure to sunlight . .To lighten this you may use a De-tan pack . .Included in the VLCC pedicure kit or make your own . .

    To make a De-tan foot pack . .
    • Mix one lemon juice with one tablespoon rose water and cucumber juice . .Or a mixture of honey and lemon juice will work equally well . Or try mixing some gram flour( Besan) with leon juice and curd.

Use any one of these pack every alternate day. . This will slowly lighten the existing tan. But you must try and avoid further tanning. Wear closed shoes . .To avoid feet tanning. Use a sunscreen and wear full sleeved attire so to cover the hands . .

    Some more Tips :
    • Avoid strappy shoes so that you can avoid tanning
    • Always apply a foot cream and hand cream before going to bed . .
    • Apply a base coat before you paint your nails
    • Use the De-Tan pack every alternate day
    • If you wear socks to school or office . .Keep track whether your feet sweat .  It may cause bacterial infections of nail . .Use a foot spray or foot powder to keep the sweat at bay . .Scholl has many feet products, choose from them  .

    Hope you like this post
